The LIFX Mirror combines a surface-mounted mirror with customisable front and back lighting, physical controls and a built-in de-fog function. It can be mounted vertically or horizontally and powered using either the included plug-in cable or a hardwired electrical connection.
Once connected to the LIFX app, you can control the Mirror’s lighting, customise its buttons, create schedules and Scenes, and connect it to supported smart-home platforms through Matter.
Before you begin
You’ll need:
- A compatible iOS or Android device
- The latest version of the LIFX app
- A 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network
- Your Wi-Fi password
- Bluetooth enabled on your phone
- A Phillips-head screwdriver
- A drill with a 5/16-inch drill bit
- Suitable mounting hardware for your wall surface
Keep your phone close to the Mirror during setup and connect it to the Wi-Fi network you want the Mirror to use.
The Mirror’s Matter QR code and 11-digit setup code can be found in the product manual and on the back of the Mirror. Keep a copy of this code, as it may be needed when setting up or reconnecting the product.
Electrical safety: Turn off power at the circuit breaker before beginning a hardwired installation. If you’re unsure about the wiring, mounting surface or local electrical requirements, have the Mirror installed by a qualified electrician.
What’s included
The LIFX Mirror includes:
- Mounting screws
- Plastic anchors
- Wire connectors
- Cable management straps
- Plug-in power cable
- Hardwire pigtail
The supplied plastic anchors are intended for drywall or similar surfaces. Use mounting hardware suitable for the wall material and the Mirror’s weight when installing on another surface.
Installing the LIFX Mirror
Choose an orientation
The Mirror can be mounted vertically or horizontally.
| Orientation | Distance between mounting screws |
|---|---|
| Vertical | 10 inches |
| Horizontal | 14 inches |
The back of the Mirror has three mounting brackets. Use the two brackets that match your chosen orientation, as shown in the installation diagram on page 2 of the manual.
Mark and prepare the mounting points
- Mark two level mounting points using the correct spacing for your chosen orientation.
- Drill holes using a 5/16-inch drill bit.
- Insert the supplied wall anchors, or use suitable hardware for your wall type.
- Install the mounting screws, but don’t tighten them fully.
- Leave a small gap between each screw head and the wall so the mounting brackets can slide into place.
The manual recommends leaving approximately 3/8 inch between the screw head and the wall. Keep the gap as narrow as practical once the Mirror can be fitted securely.
Powering the Mirror
The Mirror can be powered using the included plug-in cable or through a hardwired connection.
Option 1: Plug-in installation
- Locate the two covered power ports on the back of the Mirror.
- Remove the cover from the port that best suits the location of your outlet.
- Connect the included plug-in cable.
- Route the cable through one of the four cable channels.
- Plug the cable into a wall outlet.
Do not route the cable directly behind the Mirror where it could become pinched or crushed.
If the outlet or cable connection is above the Mirror’s midpoint, use the cable hook on the back of the Mirror to hold the cable during installation.
Leave the cover fitted to the unused power port.
Option 2: Hardwired installation
Turn off mains power at the circuit breaker before touching any electrical wiring.
- Connect the included hardwire pigtail to the appropriate port on the back of the Mirror.
- Connect the Mirror’s wiring to the branch circuit:
- Live/Load
- Neutral
- Secure all wiring and connectors inside a compliant junction box.
- Leave the unused power port covered.
The Mirror does not require a ground connection. All hardwired connections must comply with applicable local and national electrical requirements.
The LIFX Mirror is designed for use on a 120 V, 60 Hz circuit and is suitable for damp locations. It must not be connected to a standard wall dimmer or incandescent dimming control.
Hanging the Mirror
The Mirror may require two people to lift and position safely.
- Align the two mounting brackets on the back of the Mirror with the installed screws.
- Guide each screw head through the
+-shaped opening in the corresponding bracket. - Lower the Mirror until the screws slide into the narrow section of each bracket.
- Check that both brackets are securely seated before releasing the Mirror.
The mounting diagram on page 3 of the manual shows how the screw passes through the larger opening before the Mirror is lowered and locked into place.
Once the Mirror is securely mounted, restore power or plug it into the outlet.

Available actions may include turning lights on or off, adjusting brightness, selecting colours or controlling other LIFX products.
Some actions run locally, while others require access to the LIFX Cloud.
Controlling other Matter devices
Actions for non-LIFX Matter devices should be configured through the relevant Matter ecosystem, such as:
- Apple Home
- Google Home
- Amazon Alexa
- Samsung SmartThings
If the same button has actions configured in both the LIFX app and a Matter platform, both actions may run when the button is pressed. Disable the unwanted LIFX button action if you’re seeing duplicate or conflicting behaviour.
Lighting controls and features
The LIFX Mirror provides independently controllable front and back lighting, with white and colour lighting options.
Through the LIFX app, you can:
- Turn the lighting on and off
- Adjust brightness
- Select white colour temperatures
- Choose colours and themes
- Run lighting effects
- Create schedules
- Save lighting settings as Scenes
- Control the front and back lighting
- Include the Mirror in Groups and Locations
The product’s Make-Up Check feature is designed to cycle through different white-light conditions, from daylight-style lighting to warmer evening light, so you can check your appearance under different lighting.
Factory resetting the Mirror
A factory reset removes the Mirror from its current Wi-Fi network and returns its network configuration to its original state.
- Make sure the Mirror is powered on.
- Press and hold the first three buttons at the same time.
- Continue holding for 10 seconds.
- Release the buttons.
- The Mirror lighting will cycle through several colours to confirm the reset.
After resetting, add the Mirror to the LIFX app again as a new product.
You’ll also need to factory reset and reconnect the Mirror after changing:
- Your Wi-Fi network name
- Your Wi-Fi password
- Your router, where the new router uses different Wi-Fi credentials
Troubleshooting
The Mirror doesn’t power on
Check the following:
- Confirm the outlet or circuit has power.
- If plugged in, make sure both ends of the power cable are fully connected.
- Confirm the cable is connected to one of the Mirror’s power ports.
- Check that the cable hasn’t been pinched behind the Mirror.
- If hardwired, confirm that mains power has been restored at the circuit breaker.
For a hardwired installation, turn off power and have the wiring checked by a qualified electrician. Don’t remove the Mirror or inspect electrical connections while the circuit is live.
The Mirror isn’t appearing during setup
- Make sure the Mirror is powered on.
- Keep your phone close to the Mirror.
- Turn Bluetooth on.
- Confirm your phone is connected to Wi-Fi.
- Make sure your router’s 2.4 GHz network is enabled.
- Close and reopen the LIFX app.
- Restart the Mirror by disconnecting power briefly, then reconnecting it.
- Try entering the 11-digit Matter code manually instead of scanning the QR code.
If the Mirror was previously connected to another network or smart home, factory reset it before trying again.
The Mirror won’t connect to Wi-Fi
The Mirror requires a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection and supports 802.11 b/g/n/ax networks using WPA2 security and DHCP.
Check that:
- The Wi-Fi password is correct.
- The phone and Mirror are within range of the router.
- The router’s 2.4 GHz band is enabled.
- WPA2 security is available.
- DHCP is enabled.
- Client isolation or AP isolation is disabled.
- The Wi-Fi network isn’t a guest network that prevents devices from communicating locally.
A combined 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz network will usually work, provided the router allows the phone and Mirror to communicate during setup.
The Mirror went offline after changing the router or Wi-Fi password
The Mirror can’t automatically learn new Wi-Fi credentials.
Factory reset it, then add it to the LIFX app again using the new network details.
Matter setup fails
- Confirm the Mirror has power.
- Keep the phone close to the Mirror.
- Make sure Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled.
- Confirm the phone and Matter controller are connected to the same local network.
- Check that the Matter controller or smart-home hub is online and supports Matter.
- Enter the 11-digit Matter code manually if the QR code won’t scan.
- Restart the Mirror and try again.
- Factory reset the Mirror if it was previously commissioned to another Matter home or network.
Older smart-home hubs may not support Matter, even if the platform itself supports it. Some Matter features, including remote control while away from home, require a compatible Matter-enabled hub or controller.
A physical button isn’t performing the expected action
Open Light Settings > Buttons Setup and check:
- Which press type is configured
- Which device, Group or Location is targeted
- Whether the action requires the LIFX Cloud
- Whether another action is configured in a Matter ecosystem
Remove any duplicate LIFX or Matter action if the button is triggering more than one response.
The De-Fog button has a fixed function and can’t be customised.
The de-fog function turns off by itself
This is expected. The de-fog function is designed to switch off automatically after its operating cycle.
The Mirror responds in the app but not through Apple Home, Google Home or another platform
This usually means the Mirror is connected to LIFX but hasn’t been fully added to the other smart-home platform.
Check that:
- The Mirror appears in the ecosystem’s app.
- The Matter controller is online.
- The phone, Mirror and controller are on the same local network.
- The Mirror hasn’t been removed from that Matter home.
- Any automation or button action is configured inside the correct platform.
If needed, remove the failed Matter connection from the ecosystem and recommission the Mirror using its Matter code. A factory reset should be treated as the final step because it also removes the Mirror’s current Wi-Fi configuration.
The Mirror lighting works, but the de-fog function doesn’t
Allow the Mirror and bathroom environment to become cool before testing again.
Confirm that:
- The Mirror has continuous power.
- The De-Fog button responds when pressed.
- The function hasn’t already completed its automatic cycle.
- The entire Mirror hasn’t been connected through a dimmer or incompatible lighting control.
If the de-fog function never activates while the lighting and buttons otherwise work, contact LIFX Support.
The Mirror is loose or doesn’t sit correctly against the wall
Turn off or disconnect power before adjusting the Mirror.
Check that:
- Both screws have entered the correct mounting brackets.
- The Mirror has been lowered fully into the locked position.
- The screws haven’t been left too far out from the wall.
- The anchors are appropriate for the wall material.
- The power cable isn’t trapped behind the Mirror.
Use suitable replacement mounting hardware if the included drywall anchors aren’t appropriate for the surface.
Cleaning and care
Before cleaning:
- Turn off or disconnect power.
- Allow the Mirror and lighting components to cool.
Clean the Mirror and fixture using a soft, dry cloth.
Don’t:
- Clean the product while it’s powered on
- Use cleaning agents on the fixture
- Open or disassemble the product
- Add extra weight or accessories to the Mirror
- Install it close to ovens, heaters, radiators or other excessive heat sources
Opening or modifying the product may void its warranty.
