What are the different FX within the LIFX App?
The FX Library can be accessed via the 'magic wand' icon in the bottom menu.
Here you can control FX throughout your whole home, apply them to a group or choose a selection of individual lights. Click on the three vertical dots ⋮ to change the target and effect settings.
Using FX
- To activate an effect, click on the play button for the effect you want.
- If using the particular effect for the first time, follow the prompts and choose and target light, group, or location.
If you have used the effect you have chosen before, your LIFX app will remember your previous settings, including the light/lights to apply it to.
- To view the details of or edit an effect, tap the three vertical dots ⋮ on the FX card.
- The settings for each effect will be listed at the bottom of the setting screen and can be adjusted.
- You can also tap the Play Button at the bottom of the Effect Settings screen to play or pause the effect.
FX can be applied to a single group or whole locations. To use an effect on multiple lights at once, select all of the ones you want to apply it to from the 'devices' list, and it will run on all selected.
FX from the Device or Group Controls
You can also access FX directly from you device or group controls footer menu. This will pre-populate the target lights for you so you don't need to change the settings. Hit the play button and the FX will run on your device or group.
*Some FX are driven via the App, whereas others are driven by the Lights firmware, which means they do not need the App to be open to run continuously. A full list of these FX and associated lights can be found in this article.
