Are LIFX IP-rated fit for outdoor use?
LIFX has a dedicated 'Outdoor Collection' of IP-rated products designed specifically for outdoor use and suitable for areas exposed to direct weather conditions.
These include:
- LIFX Outdoor String Lights
- LIFX Outdoor Neon Flex
- LIFX Permanent Outdoor Lights
- LIFX Outdoor Spot
- LIFX Outdoor Path
- LIFX PAR38 Flood Light
- LIFX BR30 Smart Light
The remainder of the LIFX product line however, is not suitable for direct weather exposure.
This means they are not a good fit for places with average to heavy rainfall where water could make direct contact with the light or its fixture.
The A19 and Mini collection bulbs are acceptable for use in damp spaces such as bathrooms (but not inside a steam shower or sauna, for example), outside- but only in lamps that are covered and under eaves that would protect them from direct weather exposure.
NOTE: Weather is unpredictable, and using your lights in non-recommended locations can void the warranty.
