Controlling your lights as a group, location or individual light.
To access any control settings beyond on, off, and group brightness in the app, you must tap the name tag of your item, be it a group, location, or individual light. A name tag looks like this: for a light, or this: for a group.
Controlling lights by group
Group controls help allow quick access to lights you have grouped. Usually, this is handy for controlling a whole room of lights. This means all of the lights in that group will be controlled at once.
To control a group:
1. Tap the name tag () of your group. In the example here, the group is called 'Bedroom'. You would tap the name tag that says 'Bedroom' to control all lights in that room.
2. This brings up the Group control screen. Now you can change the color, brightness, and shades of white or apply themes across the whole group. Anything you set here will apply to all the lights within that group.
Note: Polychrome/colour zone controls for painting lights is not available in the group control screen. To paint your feature lighting products, such as Beam, Lightstrips or Candle Color, you will need to go to the individual light's control screen to interact with this level of customisation.
Controlling lights by location
Location controls help you take quick actions affecting a whole physical space. Usually, this is handy for controlling whole places, such as turning all the lights on when you're near home or turning them all off when you leave. Like Groups, when you control a location, all of the lights in the Location will be controlled at once.
If you have a single location for your lights:
Simply tap on the name of the location, and the control screen will appear.
If you have a more than one location for your lights:
1. Tap the name of your Location - this is in the top left corner. In this instance, the Location is called 'Home' so you would tap the word 'Home'. This will open up your location options.
2. Tap on the name tag for the location you wish to control. Anything you set here will apply to all the groups and individual lights in that Location.
Note: tapping the image associated with the Location will take you to that Locations dashboard. Polychrome / colour zone controls for painting lights are not available on the location control screen.
All groups and individual lights within that Location will now have the setting you applied.
Controlling an individual light
Individual Light controls allow you to interact with just that light. These are most frequently used to control a single light you wish to manually interact with (such as a bedside light you want to dim) or to get extra customization options, such as painting, for specialty products that support our Polychrome technology (or zoned color).
First, you'll need to open the group so you can see all of your lights. To do this, tap anywhere in the image area of the group card, and you will see the individual lights unfold below.
To control your individual light:
1. Tap the name () of the light you want to customize. In this instance, the light is called 'Lamp' so we tap the name tag for the light.
2. Now you can change the color, brightness, and shades of white or apply themes across the whole group, as well as paint products that have Polychrome features.
Anything you set here will apply only to that individual light.
