iOS Setup
What is the difference between 'Onboarding - via HomeKit' and 'Onboarding - via Wi-Fi only'? Which one should I use?
We recommend using the 'Onboarding - via HomeKit' option because it uses the HomeKit Code in your manual/package to add your LIFX light to the LIFX app and enables Siri and all HomeKit features in one simple setup.
Using the 'Onboarding - via Wi-Fi only' will connect your light to the app without adding HomeKit and Siri at the same time. You will also need to wait for 15 minutes for the default HomeKit onboarding window to expire.
Before you get started, you will also need to ensure you have granted access to location services. You can do this in iOS system settings by:
- Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services.
- Make sure that Location Services is on.
- Scroll down to find the LIFX app.
- Tap the LIFX app and select an option: While Using: This grants access to the LIFX app access to location services while you have the app open.
* (Please remember to use your 2.4Ghz WiFi Network)
