If you are having issues with a bulb or more dropping off your network, make sure you are aware of the number of devices on your network, and how many clients (devices) your router will support at one time.
All wireless routers have a maximum number of connected clients, but some are limited to a very small number, 16 or less. This is great when you have a couple phones, a computer, maybe a connected TV, but as your number of devices grow, there is not much room for more devices, like a few LIFX.
Below is a list of the wifi routers we have tested that work well with 16 or more Original LIFX bulbs connected. The WNDR3800 was able to support 100 Original LIFX bulbs.
|Router Model||Total Bulbs connected|
|Netgear WNDR3800 (latest openwrt firmware)||100|
|Apple Airport Express||63|
