What is Light Restore?
Light Restore is a feature that allows users to decide what state their lights will be in when power is restored to said lights and can be found under 'settings' within the App.
To put it into context, think of the situation in which a power outage occurs in your home. Once the power comes back to your home, your lights will automatically turn back on in the last illuminated state they were in (e.g. 100% brightness at 3,500K).
Within Light Restore, there are a couple of sub-features that allow you to choose different options for how you’d like your lights to restore.
What are my options within Light Restore?
Power Restore
Power Restore turns your lights back on to whatever setting they were on previously (e.g. 50% brightness and blue).
You can now choose to enable or disable the feature that turns your light back on automatically when the power is turned off and on once.
So, if you chose to disable Power Restore, your lights won’t turn back on automatically after a power outage. This could be beneficial if you do not want to be woken up in the middle of the night but bright light when your power is restored.
Toggle Restore
The Toggle Restore is a sub-feature that will restore your lights to 100% brightness at 3,500K when you turn them off then on again twice at the wall switch.
It’s now up to you how and in what way they turn back on (e.g. a different state other than 100% brightness at 3,500K). That means you can choose a different option for what state your lights restore to in terms of brightness and colour (e.g. 5%, 2,000K or 70% and green).
This feature is great for a scenario in which you put your lights into a specific state that you no longer want. With Toggle Restore, you can easily reset your lights’ state to your preferred state by turning the light switch off then on again twice.
How is Light Restore different from Resetting my lights altogether?
It’s important to note that Light Restore is different from Factory Resetting your lights, which will clear the WiFi credentials and put your lights back into setup mode.
