Before you start, you’ll want to know if you are configuring your Button to control a LIFX Light or a non-LIFX light. Here’s a simple chart to help you understand.
|
|
If you’re using Switch to control your LIFX lights, then you’ll easily be able to find them under Button Target. You can set a Button to control a single LIFX light (wired or not), a Group, a Location or even a Scene. |
If you’re not sure or can’t remember whether you have a LIFX in that socket, then it’s likely a NON-LIFX light if it doesn’t already exist in the app. These lights will always be controlled by a wired connection to the Switch itself. Fun fact: You can also wire it up to other items controlled by a light switch (like a fireplace, for example). |
Ok, have an idea what light type you’ll be configuring? Then you’re ready to go.
If a LIFX Light...
- Tap on the button you wish to configure
- Name your Button (Hint: If you’re installing more than one Switch, try to make it recognizable to the room.)
- Flip the toggle to highlight LIFX Light
- Select what the button will control by clicking on Button Target.
- Select if your LIFX Light is Wired to the Switch
- Choose YES if you would normally want to control your LIFX lights by switch (I.e., in the case of downlights)
- Choose NO if you want your button to control a Group, Scene, or Location. Also, select no if your LIFX bulb is plugged into a light fixture that is not controlled by a light switch
- Hit Save
If a Non-LIFX Light...
- Tap on the button you wish to configure
- Name your Button (Hint: If you’re installing more than one Switch, try to make it recognizable to the room.)
- Flip the toggle to highlight Non-LIFX Light
- Hit Save
