When a light flashes red, green, blue, white and then purple, the light is in Factory Test Mode
LIFX Gen 3
To exit Factory test mode:
- Ensure that the bulb is on at the switch
- power cycle the bulb 5 times to reset (off, on, off, on, off, on, off, on, off, on)
- The bulb should then cycle through the colors Red, Green, Blue, White, off, then White
Your LIFX should now show as a network and be ready to be set up again.
LIFX Lightstrip:
Follow the power cycle process for the Color 1000 below. With the LIFX Lightstrip, you will want to be unplugging the Strip cable, from the power adapter, for each power cycle.

To exit Factory test mode:
- Ensure that the bulb is on at the switch
- Power cycle the bulb 3 times (off, on, off, on, off, on)
- The bulb may strobe red, then turn white
- Wait at least 10 seconds, then power cycle the bulb 5 times to reset (off, on, off, on, off, on, off, on, off, on)
Your LIFX should now show a LIFX network to setup and operate correctly.
LIFX Original
To exit Factory test mode:
- Ensure that the bulb is on at the switch
- Power cycle the bulb
- Flick the reset switch three times (ie, up, down, up or down, up, down) within 5 seconds
- The bulb may strobe red, then cycle through Red, Green, Blue (quickly), and then appear to be off.
- Power off the bulb.
- Flick the reset switch to the opposite position.
- Power on the bulb.
Your LIFX should now operate correctly.
If these steps do not solve the problem, your light may be stuck in Factory Mode. In this case, please submit a warranty service request.
